Package: ttf-mscorefonts-installer Severity: wishlist Tags: wontfix Microsoft released a number of fonts with Vista. A second package, say ttf-msvistafonts-installer, would be useful to download, extract and install these fonts. If this is illegal (as appears to be the case), tagging this bug WONTFIX and explaining why would be useful for people looking through the BTS to see if anyone else has asked for these fonts.
According to Wikipedia, these fonts are available for free (of charge) download. When I downloaded FileFormatConverters.exe and cabextracted it, it contained an "EULA" file which included the following lines, which seem to indicate that it is illegal to install these fonts on anything other than Windows. 4. FONT COMPONENTS. You may use the fonts that accompany this software only to display and print content from a device running a Microsoft Windows operating system. Additionally, you may only • embed fonts in content as permitted by the embedding restrictions in the fonts; and • when printing content, temporarily download them to a printer or other output device. You may not copy, install or use the fonts on other devices.
