Thousands of Infants are Malnourished in South Sulawesi Tuesday, 04 November, 2008 | 18:30 WIB TEMPO Interactive, Makassar:Data obtained by the South Sulawesi Health Services shows that thousands of children under five in the province are suffering from malnutrition. This was reported by governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo when he received the House of Representatives' (DPR) Commission IX in South Sulawesi yesterday. Reportedly, 94 serious cases of malnutrition were handled during the period of January - October. Astati Made Armin, chief of South Sulawesi's Health Services Public Health Nutrition, confirmed the number of malnourished children based on the 2006 micro nutrition survey. According to newer data obtained from the 2007 nutrition status survey, out of 800.000 children under five, 72.000 of them suffer from malnutrition and 272.000 are lacking of nutrition. IRMAWATI
