only if someone sends you a large file, say 800k on a dial up will you get problems with gmail. The gmail server will time out before you ever download it when set up in an email client for pop3. It will be in the gmail server via web access though.
The giveaway accounts are being topped up because of the competition from yahoo who just started enlarging their storage to 1Gig.

Same here. I started with fifty and gave some away and they grew back. Gmail can also be set up as a pop3 email service. I can't find anything wrong with it and it's free. Over 2 gigabytes of storage as well. I have mine set up as a pop3 account used with outlook plus keeping it on the server.
