Re: [Zappa-List] old Mothers albums mixes

2011-12-16 Thread duckbite
Just to chime in here, I prefer the otriginal mix of Cruisin over the
CD version but I listen to the CD version many times more. Also, take
Hot Rats for example. I listen to the CD so many more times but
whenever I get to hear the LP version it is almost like I'm
discovering a new version never heard before.
I don't dislike the Chad Wackerman drumming but I like the
older/original better. If I could choose, I'd rather the ZFT spend
more time releasing unheard of stuff, like the Carnegie LP instead of
remixing LPs I already have.
Having typed that I'll sign off wishing you all a Merry Christmas and
a Happy Zappadan.

This List isn't dead, it just smells funny...
Your question as it wasn't, kinda puts you in a category. There
seem to be 2 different campswith regard to the early recordings
and their subsequent remixes (and both can be quite rabid): those
who prefer the former, and those who prefer the latter.
I actually like (and own) both, and cannot say that I prefer one
 over the other.
I know, a chumps way out, but it's true.

surprised these haven't been re-mixed by Joe Travers and Dweezil. I
like the later 1984 mix of We're Only in it for the Money with Chad
Wackerman on drums and Arthur Barrow on bass because the drums and
bass are more prominent in the mix and other aspects of the songs
seem to be remixed as well, enhancing the songs.
