Re: [Zappa-List] Interesting thread

2005-01-04 Thread glen

What caught my eye is that he mentions taping Frank's Baton Rouge 77
show.

He always marked his tapes usually with a whistle but in Frank's case
used
 a
  duck call.

Is this show out there anywhere ?

Sure. I have it (in mp3).

Have a listen and see if you can hear the duck call,if you can then it must
have come from Freezer,if not there must be another source.

I might have it but I don't think so.

Well, I just figured it would be difficult to discern from the scene
antics, as they possibly used those kind of effects themselves, you know..

But, if the Freezer-hoot was blatantly performed up close to the
bootleg-mike (which probably is the case, if he did it himself,) then the
possibility to identify it is more likely..

I don't know what it sounds like Chris.

I'm going on Freezer's comments on the link to the thread Iposted.

More than that I do not know.

Freezer always *marked* his recordings.

I have some of his Stones stuff.

Usually it was a very loud whistle but for some reason he used a duck
call, his words not mine, for the Zappa recording.

Normally his marking would be at the start of the show...he wouldn't
whistle or duck call all the way through as that would obviously ruin it.

By 'duck-call', do you mean like the "rut-tuuh-doo-too-duuh" heard in 'Jewish Princess'?
-That would be a kazoo, not a duck call. You can hear Ruth Underwood wailing on a duck call near the end of "Don't You Ever Wash That Thing?" on Roxy Elsewhere
