I use the software that came with my capture card. It makes nice mpeg2 files that I author with TMPGEnc DVD Author (TDA). TDA is way better than Nero for authoring DVD because it doesnt re encode or re render the original mpeg files. It comes with a free 30 day trial if you want to try it. http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tda16.html What kind of capture card are you using?
As for PAL to NTSC conversion I recommend against it. For much less money than it costs for software that does a good job of it you can buy a player that will play PAL. About $30 at Walmart. There's even a chance that the player you have now can do it. Many players come set to output PAL when playing a PAL disc but an adjustment in the setup screen can tell them to output NTSC regardless of the disc's format. I'm curious to know what programs you guys use to capture and burn. Are there any settings that I should pay attention to? Is it possible to capture from a VHS and burn to a DVD without any degeneration like you get with VHS to VHS? Lastly, how do you convert a PAL DVD to NTSC DVD? I used Nero and it didn't work right - the converted DVD looked terrible and jumped around when I played it on the DVD player. I haven't been impressed with Nero so far...so how you do all do it? Thanks for any help - any other info would be great! For further Z-related fun, please visit http://www.thebignote.com or http://www.killuglyradio.com , thank you. Yahoo!
