Hi, I've a A-Link WL54USB, it worked just brilliant with SoftMAC and WPA under 2.6.20, Debian Etch. However in 2.6.21 the zd1211 module now complained that AL2230S is not supported -- so somebody for some reason seems to have removed AL2230S support when moving to 2.6.21, or otherwise 0ace:1215 is now incorrectly(?) detected to have an AL2230S.
Next I applied the patches (and checked they were applied ok) that are mentioned in http://www.mail-archive.com/zd1211-devs@lists.sourceforge.net/msg01099.html which if I understood right correctly will add AL2230S support and also remove the "not currently supported" error. Well the module loads now ok without the AL2230S not supported error. But as soon as dhclient tries to get an IP, something causes eth1 to loose association (?) with the AP: dhclient: DHCPDISCOVER on eth1 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 7 kernel: SoftMAC: Open Authentication completed with xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx dhclient: DHCPDISCOVER on eth1 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 16 kernel: SoftMAC: Open Authentication completed with xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx dhclient: DHCPDISCOVER on eth1 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 15 kernel: SoftMAC: Open Authentication completed with xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx dhclient: DHCPDISCOVER on eth1 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 18 kernel: SoftMAC: Open Authentication completed with xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx ... It did not happen in 2.6.20. Any ideas? I'm not sure whether this is a zd1211rw or SoftMAC problem, though https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.20/+bug/103768 might indicate zd1211rw problem. In /etc/networking/interfaces I already have "iface eth1 inet dhcp". Thoughts? Solutions? :) thanks, - Jan ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
