Hi, I'm using a 3Com 3CRUSB10075 with r77 of the zd1211 driver on a 2.6.17 ARM-el kernel (a Linksys NSLU2 running DebianSlug). It's not working, and I'm hoping someone here might be able to shed some light on things.
The zd1211 module loads just fine, and I can scan for APs, and I see my AP: > myhost:~# iwlist wlan0 scan > wlan0 Scan completed : > Cell 01 - Address: 00:12:17:C6:D7:C5 > ESSID:"myessid" > Mode:Master > Frequency:2.432 GHz (Channel 5) > Extra:SignalStrength=100%,LinkQuality:92% > Encryption key:on > Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s; 18 > Mb/s 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s; 9 Mb/s 12 Mb/s; 48 Mb/s > Extra:bcn_int=100 But beyond that things don't work. After doing an 'ifup' (which assigns a static address, and sets the ESSID, WEP key and region) I see: > myhost:~# ifconfig wlan0 > wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:16:E0:03:1F:A5 > inet addr:192.168.229.10 Bcast:192.168.229.255 > Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 > RX packets:0 errors:22 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:22 > TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 > collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 > RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) But after waiting a few minutes, the dongle still hasn't associated, and seems to have an ever-rising number of 'Tx excessive retries' and a few 'Rx invalid frag's: > myhost:~# iwconfig wlan0 > wlan0 802.11b/g NIC ESSID:"myessid" > Mode:Managed Frequency=2.432 GHz Access Point: > Not-Associated Bit Rate:11 Mb/s > Retry:off RTS thr=2432 B Fragment thr:off > Encryption key:****-****-** Security mode:open > Power Management:off > Link Quality=92/100 Signal level=100/100 Noise > level=0/100 Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:22 > Tx excessive retries:259740 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 I'm sure the key and ESSID are fine, 'cause I've got two other devices talking to my AP with these settings. Where should I start looking for the problem? What debug can I turn on in order to troubleshoot the association? Is the excessive retries/invalid frag issue the key to this? Thanks in advance for any light shed, Zak (Isaac Wilcox)
