Probably ifup/ifdown scripts stumble over the fact that an old ifconfig
up "fix" has been reverted since it caused problems with some setups. If
you do configuration with iwconfig manually (after ifconfig up) there
should be no problems. A patch is in the queue.
I tried r71-testing together with 2.6.16.5 today, but
ifup still doesn't work.
Try r73.
