[Zeitgeist] [Bug 612344] Re: Blacklist API sucks
So if we have 10 clients monitoring the blacklist the daemon it will result in 10 GetTemplates() calls on the bus? ;-) How about putting the new list of templates in the Changed() signal? That way there'll be no extra noise on the buzz when the list changes. Anyway, I am still not entirely convinced about this API. I think clients need a way to identify which blacklists come from where. I think maybe a naming scheme would provide a better API. Like fx: Let 'E' define the event dbus signature. Methods: - GetTemplates() -> ({sE}) - AddTemplate(s, E) - RemoveTemplate(s) Signals: - Changed({sE}) Apps would use their normal namespaced bus names to construct blacklist names. Like 'org.gnome.Epiphany.PrivateBrowsing' for the blacklist template epiphany install when you enter private mode. -- Blacklist API sucks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/612344 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Zeitgeist Framework Team, which is subscribed to Zeitgeist Framework. [Zeitgeist] [Bug 613596] Re: ORed subjects very slow in 0.5
Ok, seems like this didn't really change, even in 0.4 it was pretty much as slow as now. Still, I'm seeing about 0.15s to fetch one event id when using RECENT_EVENTS grouping which seems quite a lot (this is for DB with ~25k events, ~10k uris). -- ORed subjects very slow in 0.5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/613596 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Zeitgeist Framework Team, which is subscribed to Zeitgeist Framework. [Zeitgeist] [Bug 612344] Re: Blacklist API sucks
Ok, as mentioned in the first post I'd suggest this: [org.gnome.zeitgeist.Blacklist] inteface: Methods: - GetTemplates() -> (Array of Events) - AddTemplate(Event) - RemoveTemplate(Event) Signals: - Changed() A few notes: templates must be unique, adding the same template twice will result in the second call being ignored (and will not emit Changed signal). Otherwise after every change Changed() signal is emitted and since it doesn't have any parameters the client is expected to call GetTemplates afterwards if it cares (maybe this should be changed?). -- Blacklist API sucks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/612344 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Zeitgeist Framework Team, which is subscribed to Zeitgeist Framework. [Zeitgeist] [Bug 559350] Re: zeitgeist-daemon crashed with OverflowError in call_async()
@Mikkel: I'm afraid this will be different issue, the reporter states that only thing running was GAJ, and due to the date this was opened (April), it's impossible that a libzg monitor caused this. Also here's a traceback which caused the libzg bug, it's a bit more clear than this one. ** Attachment added: "overflow.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/53091098/overflow.txt -- zeitgeist-daemon crashed with OverflowError in call_async() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/559350 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Zeitgeist Framework Team, which is subscribed to Zeitgeist Framework. [Zeitgeist] [Bug 559350] Re: zeitgeist-daemon crashed with OverflowError in call_async()
Looking quickly at fixinf this on the ZG side as well... I am actually afraid that this is impossible to fix inside Zeitgeist :-S We dispatch the monitor DBus calls asynchrously, and the bug is somehow picked up very low in the stack in an async callback before it reaches Zeitgeist. Indeed I can see no Zeitgeist code in the stack trace. Also, we are actually passing in an error handler to DBus which *ought* to be invoked on errors, but apparently not, since that should simply result in a warning printed on stdout. ** Changed in: libzeitgeist Status: Triaged => Fix Committed -- zeitgeist-daemon crashed with OverflowError in call_async() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/559350 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Zeitgeist Framework Team, which is subscribed to Zeitgeist Framework.
