You can press Ctrl+G to navigate to a sura based on its revelation order.
Currently only Ibn Abbase, sura-level, revelation order is bundled with
Zekr.

Notice the Aya numbering (23) ... something is wrong.
Is it because of my computer? I had uninstall Zekr completely using REVO
Uninstaller(complete uninstall no traces left) and reinstall Zekr again -
no change! Apart from that everything else works.

Please advice me, is it a bug in Zekr? How do I remedy this issue?

Remove it manually: your Zekr workspace is something like this in
Windows: C:\Users\your_user_name\.zekr and something like this in Linux:
~/.zekr.
Now find res/audio in your Zekr workspace. You can remove it to remove a
recitation. Make sure to remove also .properties file from your res/audio
for that recitation.

Zekr doesn't work with gcj as far as I can remember. Your issue has been
solved probably by setting properly MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME var to firefox /
xulrunner.

Seeing as there are errors with the org.eclipse library, I installed the
eclipse tool-kit, but that did not work. It works just fine on my system,
which is also running Ubuntu 14.05. We both have OpenJDK Java 7 installed
on our machines.

Actually, I did downloaded the source code and managed to add tags and you
can even search through those tags but there are things that I don't
understand... for example, I have defined some properties to caption the

Zekr requires no installation. You can either use Zekr portable, or copy an
installed version of Zekr where you need. If you want to have some
translations available to all users, then download
.trans.ziphttp://zekr.org/resources.html#translationfiles and copy
them into zekr installation folder\res\text\trans.

Zekr 32 bit portable works on both 32 bit and 64 bit archs. I don't know
what's the problem with your installation, but I can say that it's tested
on 64bit Linux.

BTW, you need *lib*webkitgtk. webkitgtk itself is not sufficient.

Zekr portable works on 32 and 64 bit architectures. It's actually a 32 bit
SWT+ 32 bit Java + Zekr core + XULRunner, so should work on both 32 bit and
64 bit linux. If it doesn't work, please download latest SWT (32 bit) from this
linkhttp://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/R-4.3.1-201309111000/#SWT.
Put swt.jar in zekr/lib and then try again. It should work.

Zekr supports footnotes or parenthetical commentaries. A text which is
placed between double braces (e.g. [[commentary part]]) is not show.
Instead a toggle number is shown which shows/hides commentary on click. We
have currently one Russian translation+commentary in this way:

This is a bug with IE+KFCQPG font. You can either change the
fonthttp://zekr.org/wiki/Unicode_Quran_fonts#Change_font,
or disable WAQF signs by setting the following property in Zekr config file
(workspace http://zekr.org/wiki/Workspace\config\config.properties).

The error message relates to finding a proper browser on your machine. It
fails to locate and work with your firefox. Please install libwebkit (or
libwebkitgtk) and try again.

ekr requries aya-by-aya files. You file is the whole sura. You should
provide a path with two variables: one for the current sura and the other
one for the current aya. If you miss the later, Zekr doesn't focus on the
correct aya number.

ويحث عليه «وهو على صراط» طريق «مستقيم» وهو الثاني المؤمن؟ لا، وقيل هذا مثل
الله، والأبكم للأصنام والذي قبله مثل الكافر والمؤمن.


Allah SWT has used the word mawlaah in this verse and His Prophet
(pbuh+f) used the same word when he raised Ali's hand and said:
Whoever I was mawlaah, this is Ali as mawlaah from now on. ...

5:55 Your masters are

3) those believers who establish prayer and pay zakat while bowing
down in prayer.

5:56 Anyone takes Allah, His Prophet and those believers as their
masters, know that the Party of Allah are triumphant.

This is the recipe of Allah for success and 5:55 and 5:56 are not
limited to Imam Ali (as) only because Allah swt used plural (والذين

Allah, and he is part of the creation that was created to worship Allah
(SWT).

Our Prophet (SLAWS) perfected this worship to Allah better than the
rest of humanity, as he was the last Prophet to mankind.

The world is still around after our beloved Prophet (SLAWS) left, and
the world is still worshipping Allah (SWT), fulfilling the message and
legacy he (SLAWS) came with.

And Allah (SWT) says:

offline packages. You can use Zekr 1.1.0 to listen first to Quran
recitation and then to its translation recitation. The only thing we do not
have yet is page recitation. Multi-recitations works as aya-by-aya basis.

Good RD :)

Our current src folder on CVS is unfortunately incomplete because
contributed resource manager is still incomplete, and not ready to be
committed to the version control. But to resolve those compilation issues,
it's provided in zekr-src.jar which is bundled with all Zekr packages from
zekr.org. So the best way to setup a working Zekr with complete source code
is:

1. Download one a Zekr package from our download page.
2. Create a java project in your IDE.
3. Add all .jar files from Zekr Installation/Unzipped folder/lib to your
project
4. Unzip Zekr Installation/Unzipped folder/src/zekr-src.jar into your
project source folder.
5. Run ZekrMain.java

 2. vorbisspi-1.0.3.jar
 3. jlayer-1.0.1.jar
 4. basicplayer-3.0.jar
 5. jiintellitype-1.3.8.jar
  4. Paste Lib
  1. Open second window file manager
  2. goto zekr project in workspace
 1. example: Workspaces\MyEclipse Bling Edition 10\Zekr\lib
  3. Paste the copied libs here
 1. swt.jar
 2. vorbisspi-1.0.3.jar
 3. jlayer-1.0.1.jar
 4. basicplayer-3.0.jar
 5. jiintellitype-1.3.8.jar
  4. Overwrite any if asked
  5. Come into eclipse or myeclipse and right click on zekr
  project and click on refresh
 1. Error will now decrease, if no follow below
 2. Right click on zekr project and click properties
 3. click on java build path
 4. click on libraries
 5. click Add jars
 6. type the *.jar in search text box
 7. expend all of the folders till you see *.jars
 8. select the following
1. swt.jar
2. vorbisspi-1.0.3.jar
3. jlayer-1.0.1.jar
4. basicplayer-3.0.jar
5. jiintellitype-1.3.8.jar
 9. click on it and then click on ok
 10. again click on ok to close properties popup
 11. wait till build complete
 12. Lib copy part DONE
  5. Copy Files
  1. Copy: addonmgr missing files
  1. Open first file manager (zekr-src folder)
 2. goto \zekr-src\net\sf\zekr\engine and copy the addonmgr
 folder
  2. Paste: addonmgr missing files
 1. Open the second file manager (eclipse workspace)
 2. goto Workspaces\MyEclipse Bling Edition
 10\Zekr\src\net\sf\zekr\engine
 3. paste the folder and overwrite all files
  4. Stage Four (deleting @override)
   1. Open problem pan in eclipse or myeclipse
  1. click on Window and then Show view and select Problems
  2. OR user Ctrl+Alt+Q
  3. OR click on Window and then Show view and select Other...
 1. Type problem and select it and click OK
  4. Problem pan will open
   2. Now click on each error, it will open file and point directly to
   the line
   3. Move your cursor and select the fix remove @override
   (Myeclipse only, dont know as if eclipse provide it or not)
  1. Remove all of the @override with this method
   4. If auto fix is not available the on the error line find
   @override and delete it
   5. Save the file and errors will start resolving

 All errors will now gone

Try using XULRunner instead of IE and tell us about the result.
1. Download XULRunner
10.0.4http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/xulrunner/releases/10.0.4esr/runtimes/xulrunner-10.0.4esr.en-US.win32.zip
2. Unzip it somewhere, say *e:\xulrunner*
3. Edit zekr installation folder\zekr.ini
4. add the following line at the end of the file:
vmarg.3=-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath=*e:\xulrunner*
5. Start Zekr.

It should now use XULRunner as the underlying browser instead of IE. Check
if the font issue still persists with this browser.

It's already added to 1.1.0m1 and 1.1.0 versions. Since attributes name and
localizedName are misplaced in the XML file, the sorting is wrong in
language package combo box in Options form. You can find at the end of
languages combo box just before Chinese.

This release is deeply devoted to the Muslims of

This version of Zekr is similar to
1.1.0m1http://zekr.org/wiki/Zekr_1.1.0m1in features, plus a few bug
fixes. Main highlights of this release (same as
1.1.0m1) are:

1. Listening to multiple (two or more) recitations, aya by aya, is
possible.
2. It is possible now to dock recitation player on: bottom, top, task
pane and even have it float.
3. Show translation under search results.
4. Native support for media keys on Windows (play, pause, next/previous
track, etc.).
5. Zekr is now shown on the system tray icon.

As of this version, for first time we have a portable Linux version
containing Java (JRE 1.7.0.5) and Mozilla browser (XULRunner 10.0.4), which
should work seamlessly on any recent Linux distribution. Windows portable

mean pause button? It works for me as before. Which recitation you use?
Please tell me the exact scenario to reproduce the bug.

2. Is it useful to show ayas starting with a letter? I doubt if this would
be a common scenario to search for something in Qura'n whose 'aya' start
with a letter? People usually search for keywords not aya by starting
letter. It's however justifiable to have a quick search (suggest box, like
what we currently have in root tab) for all terms in the Quran.

3. I didn't promise anything about this version as far as I can remember. I
just prioritize features based on user requests. I'll try, however, to see
if I this is possible to have a virtual keyboard for this release or not.

4. There are already shortcuts for navigation. E.g. Alt+Left, Alt+Right,
Alt+Up, Alt+Down,  All of these navigation buttons can be customized in
shortcut.xml http://zekr.org/wiki/Shortcut_keys. What do you mean by easy
navigation. It's customizable. Isn't it enough?

P.S. I received no attachment (screenshot or something). The image you used
in the mail wasn't readable for Gmail or Google groups.

If you are sure you have Java installed, Java architecture doesn't match
Zekr architecture (use Zekr 32bit version if you are receiving error from
Zekr 64bit). If you don't know you have Java or not,

and Zekr 32 bit.

Salaam,

After two years of inactivity in Zekr development, I'm happy to announce a
new Zekr release. Zekr 1.1.0m1 is now available for download. We tried to
implement features which are widely needed by users. It includes the
following new features:

   - Multiple recitation support.
   - Show translation under search results and allow user to toggle
   translation/quran under search results.
   - Native support for media keys on Windows (play, pause, next track,
   etc.).
   - Zekr is now shown on the system tray icon (if supported).
   - Search scopes are now persisted, so they will kept if Zekr is closed.

We changed our version scheme from 'beta' to 'milestone'. This version is
1.1.0 milestone 1. InshaAllah 1.1.0 final will be released before this
Ramadan.

You are using Zekr Uthman Taha text without me_quran font. Uthmani text in
Zekr can be best displayed by me_quran

- If you changed your theme to Uthman Taha, change it back to Sky theme
(Tools  Options  General  Theme).
- If you want to see Uthmani text, make sure that you have me_quran font
installed, then change your Quran font throug Tools  Options  View,
double click on quran_fontName and set it to me_quran.
- You can also change your text from Uthmani to Imla'i from  Tools 
Options  View  set quran_uthmaniTextFile to false.

If you cannot add translations to Zekr using steps described

simply download translations
http://zekr.org/resources.html#translationand copy them into
~/.zekr/text/trans, and restart Zekr. After that you
should see translations recently added to Zekr under View  Translation
menu. You can change your layouts by clicking on any of the layouts under
View  Layout menu. If you configure custom translations, it doesn't set
your default layout to multi-translation layout. You should select this
layout through View  Layout menu.

Do you experience this error with every online and offline recitation, or
just this online one?

Could you also try to manually install an older version of JRE 1.6, say
update 20 and run Zekr again:

This may cause because of removing some codecs from recent updates of JRE.

Till they are added, you can successfully import them just by renaming
extensions from plain .zip to .trans.zip.

Your files are them same as uthmani.page.xml, but they should differ.

manzil.page.xml should have 7 elements and hizb.page.xml should have only 60
page elements.

OQP, to my knowledge, provides as much online translation as possible, so
along with generally accepted translations, it also includes controversial
(e.g. khalifa's), or archaic (e.g. sales) ones. We provide translations
generally acceptable among Muslim community. So if you want a new
translation added to Zekr (and Tanzil), just follow steps described

Regarding nl-siregar, we'll provide it soon inshaAllah.

At least one of translations you mentioned (Makarem Shirazi) is also
(initially) provided by Zekr.

You can help by providing more online info siregar translation. Digital
translations are proved to have *many* typos, you can also help by informing
about typos found in your native translations.

According to SWT FAQ http://www.eclipse.org/swt/faq.php#missingdll, from
version 3.3, there is no need to put these native files in PATH, as they
already exist in jar file. Are you sure you didn't unpack jar file? You
should have swt-mozilla-gtk-3800.so in swt.jar (which should itself exist in
zekr/lib folder).
