I guess this is the group for me. I worked my way through law school as a

Chan, at least as JMJM represents it, it a religion, a subset of Buddhism.
JMJM is right when he says zen does not have any spirituality. Spirituality is

There are too many scriptures, masters, terms, speeches already.
Therefore, there are too many interpretations, definitions already in
our mind. Therefore I shall try to use as few known terms as possible.

distinguish between Zen as I think you understand it, as just seeing
what actually is, as opposed to the various sects of Japanese Zen

Yes, this substance can also be called life force, Buddha, God,
Universal Consciousness, IT, THIS, Big Mind, Whole, One, etc. The key
