is separate and distinct from 'everything else'. IMO everything else
follows from there such as logic, reason, judgment, categorization,
time, etc...
No way to know, but I suspect his interest in Buddhism was part of many
calls for help (as to the VA mental heath folks, etc.). Unfortunately,
while he may have eventually found some balance, the middlle path is
rarely a quick fix. Anyway, seems he was not unaware he had issues.
