Hi All, What I am about to share with you is a topic rarely discussed in the Japanese Zen linage. They are touched upon, hinted at, but seldom open and direct. Please read it with an open mind. The bottom line is, anyone who practices Chi based meditation could eventually witness what I state here.
Chan (Chinese Chan is where Japanese Zen originated from) is the universal life force and wisdom, such as the air, the water, the sunshine. Chan is the driving force of all forms visible or not visible. It exists everywhere and into everything. It can not be completely grasped by our mind, sensory organs, or human knowledge. If we cultivate our "primary inner life force", which drives us, we could sync to the universal one. In this case, no different than animals or plants. When we sync to it to a certain degree, we could realize that we are indeed connected to others at various levels and aspects. The more diligent the practice, the fuller and larger the volume of the life force we could develop. We could then help to smooth out the disturbance within ourselves, or from others. The unsmoothed or irregulated, or blocked Chi, or life force, is called karma. It could be transferred, transformed, regulated or smoothed out. Most of the discomfort within us, physical or mental are caused by Karma. Similarly, sleep paralysis is one form of karma, no different than anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, insomnia, etc. There is no need to fear or panic. They are there, because they know that you can help them. Just welcome them, practice more diligently and ferry them to Buddhaland. In our school, usually after 4-5 years of diligent practice, most of the practitioners can personally witness various transformations of karma. I myself included. It is hard to believe, even for myself 9 years ago. But it is true, because I witnessed too many times myself. Don't judge, just practice. After 7-8 years, a practitioner can experience and witness many passages in the sutras. Then everything will fall together. He/she will accept everything and everyone without differentiating and live as one with the ONE. This is the best short description that I can come up with in English. Language is in a logical domain by itself, while Chan, the universal wisdom and life force is in a complete different domain, a domain of energy, also by itself. They don't intersect and don't correlate and don't connect. JM Current Book Discussion: any Zen book that you recently have read or are reading! Talk about it today! Yahoo!
