Re: [zeromq-dev] Google Groups

Yes, buy then kill is common, even for Google. Try for a year, then kill is
common, even for Google. But Google Groups has been around 15 years (since
2001) with a HUGE user base. I’ll bet it will be here tomorrow.

I agree it can do the job. There is no guarantee it will be there tomorrow. If
this list is moved, please keep an active Plan B. If you don’t think Google is
willing to make very disruptive service termination choices, please read this:

Then again it puts Picasa in the same place, and that was replaced by Photos.

Here's an interesting article I just found on the subject:

It puts the risk of Google shutting down Groups very low indeed.

Re: [zeromq-dev] Moving list to Google groups?

2016-04-15 Thread Mario Steinhoff
I'm ok with Google Groups as long I'll still receive all posts as mail
(which should be possible as others have noted).

Archive migration is a must have, seems also be possible.

What would be Plan B if in the future if Google decides to shutdown Google
Groups? This has happened in the past, even to popular services like Google
Reader.

Will the archive on gmane still be affected by the migration? When googling
for ZMQ, its always in the first hits. Things will get annoying if the
content would also be removed there.

Given it can be used with emails and the archive can be imported, +1 for
