New Delhi, Oct 24: At least 2500 dalits and tribals are marching
towards the national capital demanding rights to land, livelihood and
dignity.

The caravan includes people from at least 10 states who are all set to
press the government of their demands. They will stage a demonstration
in the national capital on their arrival there.

Those who have set out for march include people who have been
displaced by big dams and have got nothing in return and there are
tribals who are fighting for land rights in forests. They say it is
their land and they are marching towards Delhi to claim it. The
peaceful demonstrators have covered the whole journey on foot which
began on October 2.

The protest march is being spearheaded by Ekta Parishad. They are
likely to reach Delhi on October 28.
