Future plans for ZetaComponents
new topic gets new topic =) What I'm missing: - What's the future of the Components? Is it just maintenance mode? - What's the legal/license situation regarding the history/eZ Systems? - What's eZ's position? (I guess they are most interested in a clear situation of the project.) the first target is still, to have a full tested and working release. Maintaining the current Code is the Main Task for ZetaComponents. Lets Assume for this discussion, that we get this done now and that maintaining will be done without a mention. So what could be future Plans? - refactor the Code, to match current standards Is a nice Task, but i dont think, that it needs a high priority. Maybe partially for some often used components, like the ConsoleTools. A Question which should be later discussed inside of the component Teams(after we have defined coding rules related to the new standards) - define Coding rules for the new standards. We should not force new Component submissions to the old coding architecture style if there are things like PSR-0 - new Components There are still big areas, where no high Quality library exists. We cant expect, that single persons/groups contribute a full idea+architecture+code package. So we need to define a more stepped plan, how we can allow submissions who walk trought the steps with different contributers and over a very long timeframe in each phase and still can garant a high quality. To develop such a prozess is the next big step, if Zeta wants really to grow and to keep its high quality standard.
Re: [zeta-dev] Who Are the Project Admins
2011/12/12 Christian Grobmeier grobme...@gmail.com They are right, all developers are usually subscribed to this list. Most of them are on the PMC, which is the project management committee and probably comes closest to what you mean with project admins. Anyway, here is the list to bring in your suggestions, proposals, discussions etc. Just start to speak ;) than i will repeat my wish here under this topic =) Please Create a new Milestone for upcomming release and assign the following issues to it Assign to the upcomming Version i would the following Issues #102 #74 #65 #62 #25 #22 Than, close #92 as duplicate of #21 Would be nice if someone could do this for me or give me the rights to do this.
[zeta-dev] Who Are the Project Admins

Re: [zeta-dev] Zeta Components Release on 2011-12-22 - Issue Management
Hi, related to my mail from before i want to change some Issue states and asign Issues to certain Releases (primary the upcomming one) So, I dont have a clue how the upcomming Version should be named ( I remember a discuss about it but not the result. ) Anyone who can Answer this, or have I to reread the discuss about it? Assign to the upcomming Version i would the following Issues #102 #95 #74 #65 #62 #25 #22 Than, close #92 as duplicate of #21 Would be nice if someone could do this for me or give me the rights to do this. [zeta-dev] Zeta Components Release on 2011-12-22
Hi all, i have looked through the open Issues and tested checkout and unittests. So first, what is really blocking the release. - that there is still occurrence of the term eZComponents inside of code files - the website is still not complete with all needed information - Unittests are not running completely without fails. As this all are not heavy problems, I recommend the 22. December as Release Target, so we have a Full working release in this year. To be able to better organize this, it would be nice, if i can get some more rights on the Issue Tracker or at least someone, who has time the next days, so i can get on his nerves. Also i will provide some patches and reviw some already submitted patches to see, what is missing for adding them. Would be good, if i can reach someeone in IRC for this, else i would need to spam the mailinglist with every seperate Issue. (you dont want this, do you?^^) A Problem i Already found in Unitests is, that ldap://ezctest.ez.no:389 is not accessable (or at least only returns a -1) Dont know how this should be handled, but for now we should add a short tutorial for setting up an own ldap server and /etc/hosts entry for make it testable again. The other Issue I had with Unittests is the failing of the tests ezcArchiveV7TarTest::testAppendArchiveAtOnce and ezcArchiveUstarTarTest::testAppendArchiveAtOnce Can someone reproduce this for me, so i can add it to the tracker? Re: [zeta-dev] Missing report (was: Fwd: Incubator Board Report November 2011)

In addition I don't see very much activity on this podling. Are there still active people in this project? If so, please speak up. Sortofish... we are really small, and it seems we got a bit more on our plate since the code was donated. As far as I know, the project is right now mostly in support mode rather than let's write lots of new code. Maybe somebody else has a different opinion? cheers, Derick -- http://derickrethans.nl | http://xdebug.org Like Xdebug? Consider a donation: http://xdebug.org/donate.php twitter: @derickr and @xdebug the last reminder i got, was August 2011 But yeah, its not as active here as planed. Most people have more to do with work and related currently. I think too, that this project is already in support mode, but that we were not able to make a release yet is nothing good. We should at least now removing all blocking Tickets for this. the second thing i noticed. We need some plan for people who want contribute new components. In best case someone, who guide them throught the whole process and send them to the right place and person, if questions occure. For outsiders it often looks, like we are not interested in new components, this should change.
Re: [zeta-dev] Hi
Hi David, i wonder why noone answered your mail yet. Zeta Components is still actively developed. Also it has a little but fine community which likes to answer your questions. For companies there is even a team of developers available who offer commercial support. For the current status, iam not sure what is missed for the first release as Apache Zeta Components. I hope someone other will answer this Question. If you have any other Questions, you can ask here or try to reach us on irc. 2011/7/27 David Neilsen da...@panmedia.co.nz Hi, I'm new to this mailing list. Whats the status of Zeta Components? Is it still being actively developed? David Neilsen | 07 834 3366 | PANmedia ®
