[zfs-discuss] configure ST33000650SS with 4k advanced sector format
hi there, i cannot figure out how to make openindiana recognize the seagate ES.2 SAS 3TB (ST33000650SS) as a 4k advanced sector drive. in /kernel/drv/sd.conf i added the info for the drive: sd-config-list = SEAGATE ST33000650SS, physical-block-size:4096; to update the settings without a reboot update_drv -vf sd destroy the pool and recreate it with zpool create test … testing with the command stills reports 512k blocks zdb test | grep ashift ashift: 9 the funny thing is that the consumer SATA Drive Baracuda ST3000DM001 gets recognized as a 4k drive perfectly out to the box. christof ___ zfs-discuss mailing list zfs-discuss@opensolaris.org http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/zfs-discuss

Are you sure this is an 4k sector drive? The drives manual doesn't mention anything about 4k sectors or advanced format.
