Position : QA Tester *Location:* Raleigh/Durham, NC *Duration:* 6 months w/possible extension *Rate:* $35-36per hr. * * *Job Description:* *( Make Sure they have some PERL knowledge. All candidates in the past were declined due to lack of Perl. They had it on resume but could not answer Perl questions.)* The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for developing comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for a variety of release types (small modifications to large projects, low-risk to high-impact system modifications) on the MDS system. The overall goal of the successful candidate will be to understand the business and technical requirements for releases and to ensure that all functional and non-functional requirements are met. After a period of time, the successful candidate will be expected to validate completeness of requirements prior to the start of testing. The daily responsibilities of this position are to: ** Ensure all requirements are testable and covered in test cases. ** Ensure all issues are communicated and test risks are managed. ** Execute test plans, document defects, and report results to Testing Coordinator. ** Capture and maintain Quality Assurance documentation for compliance requirements. ** Continuously evaluate Quality Assurance processes to recommend efficiency improvements. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that all release candidate packages are complete and approved by all applicable stakeholders. The candidate will be expected to partner with the MDS development, management, and technical staff to continuously improve our quality assurance testing methodologies, systems, processes, and standards and to suggest strategies for improving the efficiency and quality of each phase of the software development life cycle. The primary skill set required is practical knowledge of QA testing methodologies and tools and extensive experience with validating application enhancements of various sizes. Technical knowledge in Unix and Databases will be crucial. Working knowledge of Perl, C++, and to a lesser extent Java will be useful but not required. Experience in structured software development teams and with release management is a major plus. 3+ Years IT or business background in similar role. Understanding of basic QA concepts and testing/development techniques for database systems. Successful track record working under pressure and to deadlines History of performing continual improvement on QA processes. - 2+ years of QA experience - UNIX - Good working knowledge of Oracle or Sybase SQL, good understanding of RDBMS. - Basic knowledge of design and development for Unix based client/server applications - Experience working in a structured software delivery group.
