*COBOL Skills:*

   - Extensive COBOL coding and testing experience
   - Be able to handle new development, major enhancements, and maintenance
   utilizing COBOL in conjunction with a Self-certifying File System (SFS).
   SFS is similar to VSAM.
   - Be able to utilize the *MicroFocus Net Express development* environment
   for compilation and runtime
   - Experience reading & understanding business requirements documents
   - Translating business requirements documents into detailed design
   specifications
   - Basically, complete SDLC experience (Software Development Life Cycle)
   - Be able to work on an application which involves between *15,000–25,000
   files in various forms (i.e. COBOL, scripts, .JSP, .Java, HTML/DHTML, etc.)
   *
   - Extremely beneficial, but not required would be *experience in the
   insurance industry* (business or IT), Argent Job Scheduler experience,
   web application development experience, and/or experience writing MS-DOS
   scripts (e.g. .bat, .cmd, etc.)
   - Informational:  The system also uses the *IBM TXSeries transaction
   processor* for the distributed applications
   - Informational:  Future plans include using Microsoft's SQL Server as
   the DBMS, which would involve applying embedded SQL logic with COBOL

*Web/Java Skills:*

   - Experience in server-side technologies, which include a STRONG
   understanding of Java/JEE
   - Coding experience which includes but is not limited to *JavaScript,
   DHTML, Struts, Spring, AJAX*, etc. (The three latter items would ensure
   that the candidate has current skill set.)
   - XML experience
   - SQL experience including *DDL, DML, constraints*, etc.
   - Experience reading & understanding business requirements documents
   - Translating business requirements documents into detailed design
   specifications
   - Basically, complete SDLC experience (Software Development Life Cycle)
   - Extremely beneficial, but not required would be experience in:  the
   insurance industry (business or IT), *Web Services (SOA – Service
   Oriented Architectures), WebSphere Application Server *experience,
   Microsoft SQL Server experience, experience writing MS-DOS scripts (e.g.
   .bat, .cmd, etc.), and/or Visual Basic (VB) experience
