Position: Cobol Developer
Location: San Francisco, CA
Rate: $25/hr
Need to have assembler, expeditor.
Prefer healthcare exp
Need to be gc or us citizen
This is a very senior role. Must have a very strong mainframe background
with extensive TSO, VSAM and CICS experience
Essential Job Functions:
• As a member of a project team, performs advanced programming and
business/technical analysis, system and program design, coding, testing, and
documentation
• Programming activities involve complex tasks and require the use
of creativity, independence, and initiative.
• Will be responsible for several tasks concurrently.
• Individual will work with minimal supervision, possibly assume
team lead responsibilities and deal with a degree of ambiguity.
• Reports on the status of assigned projects both orally and in
writing.
• Participates in initial plans for assigned tasks to review with
supervisor.
• Designs codes, tests, debugs, and documents moderately complex
to complex programs and/or makes modifications to programs from system use
cases and other design Specifications.
• Prepares system use cases and other design specifications.
Prepares and executes unit test plans, integration test plans, and software
installation documentation.
• Participates in problem analysis and system design preparatory
to development of programs. Defines and solves problems involving specific
programs or portions of specific systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Four year college degree required. With specific approval,
combination of post-high school education and work experience may be
acceptable.
• 6 Plus years of experience programming with COBOL in both batch
and on-line applications in an IBM mainframe environment.
• May require experience in one or more of the following: Client
Server/Distributed-based environments, MVS, Xpediter, EASYTRIEVE, Oracle,
TSO, relational DBMS (i.e., Oracle, DB2). Assembler a plus
• Strong knowledge of programming concepts and techniques
required, with in-depth experience in both development and maintenance
roles.
• Experience in working with SDLC standards and processes,
including preparation of deliverable documentation, design and code
walkthrough’s, status reporting.
• Ability to work with minimal cues on all SDLC phases of
applications analysis/design/development/testing, as well as production
installation and on-going support of new and modified online and batch
programs and other components.
• Must have the ability to multi-task and to estimate and plan
assigned tasks, projects, and work streams.
• Must have cross-functional IT experience (e.g.; working with
Operations, QA, etc.) with the ability to collaborate or coordinate as
appropriate.
. Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• Must be able to interact with all levels of personnel in a
professional manner and to communicate clearly in a professional business
environment.
Experience Health/Dental in a
application environment a plus.
