It also implies that their experience is current and that they are up on the latest vendor products software and technologies. * * *PROJECT/POSITION DESCRIPTION: *(for external use) *Job Function Description – Telephony Design Engineer* The candidate must have significant design experience (5+ years) in large, Enterprise telecommunications and Call Center environments—largely VoIP, but also including legacy TDM. The candidate will primarily be responsible for the functional and non-functional requirements gathering and analysis and telecommunications system design for Corporate Real Estate transactions involving office openings, closings, consolidations and re-locations. While a large portion of the distributed Enterprise is served from centralized (virtualized) core telephony platforms and adjunct applications, a fair amount of stand-alone systems still remain in the environment. The candidate must be capable of gathering and assessing business and technical requirements/constraints to making appropriate design recommendations utilizing defined Hosting Services technologies and architectural models. Most significantly, the candidate must possess superior skills with respect to the analysis of system capacities (hardware, software and traffic/Trucking) to ensure appropriate environment sizing and scalability. As Real Estate transactions involve the entire office technology environment, moderate understanding of LAN and WAN technologies and products is a significant plus. Candidate will be capable of applying analytical evaluative and design techniques systematically so that the solution will be able to be implemented according to hosting work flows, organizational constructs, standards and planning management. Ensures capacity exists in the hosting realm to house this design and details capacity actions when capacity does not exist. *Knowledge/Experience Base* Core Knowledge / Experience / Capabilities Set Significant experience designing and deploying large-scale Enterpriseconverged communications systems. § Centralized HA VoIP Telephony Architectures for Distributed Enterprise o Platforms: Avaya / Cisco o Protocols/Transport: H.323 / SIP / TDM o Trucking: IP & PSTN / Centralized & Distributed § Call Center Technologies o Avaya Call Center Elite o Adjuncts: CMS / NICE DVR / etc. § Traffic Engineering / Traffic Management / System Capacity Analysis o Erlang-based Analysis o LAN/WAN QoS Concepts o System Hardware, Software and RTU's Secondary Knowledge / Experience Set (Multidisciplinary Background) The ideal candidate will also possess a fairly broad and diverse technology background. § Moderate understanding of MPLS networks, data routing (BGP, EIGRP), 802.1q, DiffServ, ACL's and firewalls, PoE, DHCP, DNS and VPN (IPSec and SSL). § Moderate understanding of data networks and data network Infrastructures including routing and switching—including Cisco Catalyst product line. § Moderate understanding of computing platforms and business applications Demonstrable Soft Skill-Set Required Cognitive Functional Level: Application / Analytical / Synthesis / Evaluative § Detail-oriented and capable of driving and disseminating detailed technical functional design requirements from business engagements. § Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to address business and technical topics on multiple levels for diverse audiences § Ability to work equally well independently, or as part of a multi-disciplinary team. § Superior analytical, conceptual and evaluative skills, coupled with the ability to apply these skills in innovative ways to produce new value and unique solutions to challenges.
