Position: SENIOR DATA COMMUNICATIONS ENGINEER Location: EAST PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND Duration: 6+ MONTHS Rate: $47/hr *Role Data Communications Engineer Senior* ** *Location: E. Providence, RI ** * *Duration: 6+ months*** *Purpose of the role - How it adds value* ยท Deliverables: criteria/results by which success can be measured: - Responsible for the support of the *mainframe network system components in an IBM z/OS environment*. These responsibilities include: - Daily operation, systems programming, and production support of the - Mainframe *VTAM/SNA, TCPIP, Net view, Connect: Direct(NDM) with Secure Plus, *and* Net view Access software and hardware components* - Connectivity between the mainframe and server platform - Mainframe *security software maintenance* - Participation in disaster recovery planning and exercises - Participation in of *24x7 system support* - Strong knowledge of customization, implementation and troubleshooting of: - *TCP/IP, VTAM, JES2, Net view, System SSL, file transfer protocols especially NDM and FTP, OSPF*. Experience in Advanced Networking Concepts *(TCP/IP, Routing, Firewalls, Network Security, Enterprise Extender, APPN)* *Technical Knowledge:* Bachelors degree plus 8 years experience in *IBM mainframe systems programming. * - Experience in *mainframe networking, VTAM, SNA, and TCP/IP. IBM z/OS operating system experience* preferred. - Problem determination and production support skills in a *z/OS or OS/390 *environment. - Experienced in *IBM and ISV product installation*, customization, and support, using *IBM SMP/E and UNIX system services*. APPN*, Connect:Direct(NDM), FTP & OSPF* experience a plus.
