*Phila**, PA* *** contract to hire * * 6 months * *need green card or citizen * * * * * *Candidate / Project Details* - Will work independently in terms of DBA's - Will work hand in hand with a small size application team. - Focus will be on performing query tuning and determining ways to restructure data to improve database performance as well as working with developers and the system administrators to troubleshoot and resolve problems. * Manages the database environment to provide high availability and continuous operation as required * Monitors, tunes, and optimizes database system performance using index tuning, disk optimization, and other methods * Works with application development teams as advisor for best practice technical database design and Implements the physical data model in the various environments required by them * Defines the short term and long term plan and strategy for the modernization of the database * Develops and refines database standards, procedures and methodologies for effective operation, access and backup recovery of target database systems * Designs, implements and modifies physical database structures; evaluates, tests and implements database management systems, utilities and tools * Coordinates database security requirements including account creation, granting privileges and ensuring secure access to data for SOX, PCI, SAS 70 and Corporate security requirements. * Develops, maintains, and monitors documentation and procedural standards relating to all database projects * Coordinates changes to databases and authorizes modification of appropriate production systems under the supervision of i5 Manager * Reviews databases for conformance to industry best practices and quality assurance standards * Ensures the integrity of database backup and restore * Assists in the administration and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of the iSeries databases * Performs regular reviews of the database to identify performance problems, misuse (inadequate programming) problems, and data duplication problems (duplication across tables) * Participates in vendor product evaluation and selection * Participate in on call rotation for i5 support and administration * Maintain database fixes (PTFs) for all iSeries databases in conformance with Corporate standards and procedures Seeking individual with the following skill set / qualifications * Database maintenance and management skills, including database development languages (SQL, DB2 for i5) * Knowledge of many Database Tools/Utilities for the iSeries * Knowledge of database backup and recovery methods and tools * Understanding of data modeling and database design * Understanding of data security and data integrity * Understanding of data, metadata and control structures * Thorough understanding of iSeries connectivity at a physical and logical level * Must have the ability to learn and maintain knowledge of multiple application areas * Must be self-motivated, responsible, conscientious, and detail oriented. * Must have proven ability to follow priorities and timelines * Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills * Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. -- Thanks and Regards, Soujanya --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "zilliontechnologies" group.
