Need IBM SAN Storage Analyst with IBM SVC (1118) for Cincinnati or Cleveland

IBM SAN Storage Analyst with IBM SVC (SAN Volume Controller)

The candidate should possess working skills in the *open systems storage
environment*.

At a general level he /she will be responsible for the *support and planning
of the open systems hardware and software platforms, primarily the SAN*.

Tasks will include *daily monitoring, problem resolution, and technical
exploitation of the environment*.

In addition, the candidate will be involved in *creating and implementing
project designs from the storage perspective*.

*Candidate should be experienced** handling storage allocations though a
fibre network and within a virtualized environment (IBM SVC)**. *

*An understanding of TSM is a plus. **
*
Primary responsibilities include:

*Proactively support the production environment*.
*Work in conjunction with other SAN technicians and storage personnel to
optimize the open systems storage environment*.
*Perform capacity planning* functions for the SAN environment.
In conjunction with Project Services and Engineering, *provide support for
the planning, design and costing of storage solutions for client-initiated
projects*.
Work in conjunction with other support groups to SAN solutions for
internally initiated efforts.
Work with engineering to *set long-term SAN strategy*.
Provide assistance in the certification of new SAN functions.
Work with engineering in the certification of new SAN-related hardware.
*Maintain communication with the vendors* on directions for the product
set.
Assist in the financial justification of product upgrades.
*Provide problem-related trouble-shooting*.
*Actively participate in the on-call rotation for product support*.
*Develop automated monitoring procedures*.

Skill sets would include the aforementioned understanding of storage
concepts within a virtualized SAN environment.

The candidate should be *familiar with the storage concepts and the
partitioning and functioning of storage within a SAN.*

The candidate should be *familiar with DASD performance and debugging
concepts*.

The candidate should possess *strong analytical abilities for problem
resolution and root cause analysis.* *  *

He /she should be able to *recognize processing trends, and proactively
address fixes and situations before they become issues*.

The candidate needs to possess *good communication skills in order to
educate peers and clients on storage design and solutions*.

The candidate needs to *possess engineering skills to set and complete a
tactical architectural roadmap for both software and hardware* features.

Ideally, the candidate should *possess secondary skills in the backup and
recovery environment*.

This would include *familiarity with Tivoli Storage Manager product, as well
as IBM automated tape technology*.

The secondary responsibilities would *backup and recovery open
systems*project support work including the design and implementation
of project
storage solutions.

There are *2 positions. One based in Cleveland, and one in Cincinnati*. This
is a *first shift position, requiring rotational on-call activity*.

There would be a *minimal need for travel to other Bank facilities in Ohio*.
This activity may be as frequent as 1-2 times per quarter.
