Re: [Zim-wiki] Zim presentation

2015-09-21 Thread Tomasz Muras
Thanks Jaap, nice introduction to zim.

"Just a „notebook“ with text files" - this was actually the reason I choose
zim. I knew none of the tools did exactly what I wanted, so at least I
wanted to be able to run external tools like grep easily.

cheers,
Tomek

[Zim-wiki] Zim presentation

2015-09-21 Thread Jaap Karssenberg
Dear all,

Last weekend I held a presentation about zim at the NLLGG (the dutch Linux
user group). Apart from socializing in real life, I also used the
opportunity to formalize some of my thoughts about zim. For those
interested I put a copy of the slides in Dutch and English here:
http://zim-wiki.org/presentations/

Re: [Zim-wiki] Shared Notebook with several users

2015-09-21 Thread Jaap Karssenberg
Please keep in mind that zim is specific designed to be single user. Just
having multiple users access the same notebook in a share drive may work,
but will break as soon as you start editing the same page.

So for a mostly static notebook it is no problem, but with active editing
you will get conflicts.

My recommendation would be to have each user work on their own copy and
synchronize with the likes of subversion or git. But that makes the setup
more complex.

Regards,

Jaap

[Zim-wiki] Shared Notebook with several users

2015-09-21 Thread Güven , Ugur Murat
Hi,

I know that this topic has been discussed already, but I couldn't find anything
useful.

I'd like to try this use case:

· Notebook is stored on a network share (set as shared notebook)

· Several users access the notebook at the same time (all users are
Windows users)

Do I need to have any versioning tool running at each user's Windows system to
get a good user experience
on changes of notes at the same time?

Is there anything else I need to consider?

Hoping that anyone has already set this up and running

Thank you.
Murat
