But note that this will not only affect zim, but other applications as well. Probably you can just synchronize the notebooks and don't bother with the notebooks.list file. You can always open them through the "Open Another Notebook" dialog. Just select the existing notebook folder and it will add it to the list in the dialog. Re: [Zim-wiki] File Location
Chris, Bill, Thanks for your replies. I have done some more investigation and now have a better understanding of the file structure. Now the follow up question. As I understand it I can store the files wherever I want, but ~/.config/zim/notebook.list holds a list of notebooks. I synchronise the Documents folder on my laptop and desktop with my local server. If I create a new notebook and store it in a folder in Documents then it will get synchronised across, but the notebook.list will not, so it will not be visible. Is there any way to organise the files so that they synchronise properly? Re: [Zim-wiki] File Location
You can specify any location for your notes. Go to File > Open Notebook and hit 'Add'. Any directory is fair game (an empty one is best of course). In terms of storing zim settings (I'm not sure if that's your question though), I believe there has been talk about making it possible for them to be kept on a per-notebook basis. I don't know whether that's something that will be implemented, however. Nick On 07/29/2012 01:34 AM, Mick Sulley wrote: Hi, I am new to Zim, running on Ubuntu. Re: [Zim-wiki] File Location
Hi Mick, I notice that on my machine (Fedora 17, Gnome Desktop) I have a file: ~/.config/zim/notebooks.list. If I were a betting man, I'd bet that this is where you should look.
