Re: [Zim-wiki] Lets build a zim android app together!

I was alerted to the fact that the wiki for the android project was not
publicly editable - my intention was to have it open for collaboration - so
should be editable now to any of you!

Re: [Zim-wiki] Lets build a zim android app together!

2016-03-06 Thread Tomasz Muras
Hi Jaap,

I would love to see zim client on android devices. I think that depending
on dropbox & similar for file synchronization is a good way to go.
Personally I would not be interested in editing on the mobile device. If I
ever want to edit something in zim, I can always use standard text editor.
I would rather like to see a nice, searchable read-only version of mobile
zim - this would be my main task - easy use (search) of knowledge stored in
zim.

I can't promise much dev time to help but I will definitely do some testing
if we get something out.

Re: [Zim-wiki] Lets build a zim android app together!

2016-02-10 Thread Agustin Lobo
I definetly would need to see and edit my zim notebook (which is synced in
Dropbox) from Android as I do in Linux and Mac machines. Saving urls from
an Android browser to a zim note would be a very frequent operation in my
case. Having access to the task list would also be helpful. Other tools
such as creating HTML pages would not be as critical as I can wait for
doing that until I have access to a Linux or Mac desktop.

I was browsing the wiki, but I am not sure wath to say about how it should

Ok, perfect!

Regarding the app, what's the expected behaviour?

Will users be able to create and edit a notebook from the app or is it
read-only?

Personally, I envision an app that can read one or more notebooks
stored on OwnCloud or Dropbox (or a similar cloud storage), but you
can also create a new notebook that will be stored in the same cloud
space. Then users can read and edit the contents of those notebooks,
as they would normally do on the desktop version (create and edit
pages, attach files, images, etc.)

What do other users think?

Re: [Zim-wiki] Lets build a zim android app together!

2016-02-08 Thread Brendan Kidwell
This looks like a good project plan. I hope other people join.

I don't have the energy to work on an effort like this, but I have one
suggestion of something to look into:

It looks like you'll be building a system that loads Zim wiki text into
an editable view built with HTML and JavaScript. You might want to check
out the CKGEdit plugin for DokuWiki. It's an adaptation of CKEditor
(HTML rich text editing widget) to work on DokuWiki page source code.

https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:ckgedit

I believe CKGEdit has a (mostly) 1-to-1 mapping of DokuWiki to
editable HTML and back. In practice I couldn't get it to work without
randomly inserting empty paragraphs after a table on my sandbox
DokuWiki page, but I'm sure the source code for CKGEdit is worth
looking into for ideas.
