I would share your concern if we were not talking about a woman. In spite of the popularity of egalitarian rhetoric, I don't believe fierce females garner the same kind of power and respect as men like Daschle. Everyone recognizes that Barbara Boxer suffers from some kind of rabid infectious disease. They give her lots of room because she is scary--not out of respect for her views.
