RE: [ZION] You're back!

2003-01-22 Thread John W. Redelfs
Sounds like it was a great talk, Paul. We just had ward conference, and
our stake president shared with us the training Church leadership got by
satellite from SLC. I guess it is going to be harder to get a
missionary call for young men from now on. Maybe they are tired of
sending ne'r do wells home.

Last Sunday I knew we would have great talks in sacrament because Elder
Gibbons and his wife were speaking. He is an Area Authority that lives in
my ward and I have known him for over 15 years and my wife much longer.
What was strange was he got up and said that he was going to participate
in a regional conference with President Monson in Mesa next Sunday but
that the talk he was giving here in his ward was far more challenging in
that the ward "knew his weaknesses". I just thought that was rather
insightful to know.

Again, great talks, no fluff and no twinkies. Absolutely solid. Sister
Gibbons covered the story in the Old Testament about...(my mind went
blank) but it was great. Elder Gibbons talked about the GA's and how
President Hinckley gave a recent pep talk on how members need to work on
retention and missionary work jointly. Powerful talk too!
