Re: [ZION] War with Saddam
After careful consideration, Marc A. Schindler wrote: As Latter-day Saints, we need to continue to support individual members of the armed forces (of all the countries where we live) and their families. However, we should also make our voices heard loudly and clearly: war is madness, and we repudiate Babylon. (Is there such a thing as a 'moral war', Dialogue, 24/4, Winter 1991: 160.) And without meaning to be prideful or boastful, I do think that sounds an awful lot like what Elder Nelson just taught us in General Conference. This is exactly what I heard him say. But then maybe I'm reading my own prejudices into it. Then again, perhaps others are reading their own prejudices into it. scratching head --JWR / /// ZION LIST CHARTER: Please read it at /// /// http://www.zionsbest.com/charter.html /// / ==^ This email was sent to: archive@jab.org EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?aaP9AU.bWix1n Or send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] T O P I C A -- Register now to manage your mail! http://www.topica.com/partner/tag02/register ==^
Re: [ZION] War With Saddam
I trust everyone's heard about the terrible tragedy in Bali. A car bomb exploded outside a nightclub favoured mostly by Australian tourists, although some Swedes, Germans and Canadians have also been identified amongst the 139 killed and 174 injured so far (only a few victims have been identified at this point). Australia has called it a national tragedy. Just so you know that it's not the U.S. per se that's under attack here -- it's the western world, and it's not a single nation-state that is attacking us. It's a movement, not a country. -- Marc A. Re: [ZION] War With Saddam
Update as of 14:00 Sunday 13/10/02: 180 dead, over 300 injured. It's been blamed on Islamic terrorists based on Java and is the largest terrorist attack in Indonesia's history. The organization being blamed is called Jamal al-Islamiyya and the Australian government believes it has links to al-Qaeda (al-Qaeda isn't a single organization anyway, but more of a kind of movement; it's just the Arabic word for the base as in the base of operations). RE: [ZION] War With Saddam
Marc Schindler: It's been blamed on Islamic terrorists based on Java ... ___ And that gets right to the heart of the issue. When it becomes personal, my interest really climbs. And Java is a personal issue for me -- I have had more trouble with Java viruses in the past two weeks than I have had trouble with viruses in my entire experience with computers. If the terrorists are now using Java, I may never survive this war. Oddly and sadly enough, this may even turn out to be a true problem, rather than just the humor it is intended to be at present.
