The United Jewish Federation has arranged for Mike Pintek of KDKA radio to broadcast his weekday show, live from Israel June 2 to 6. The show airs from 9 a.m. to noon at 1020 AM.
Pintek's visit was arranged through America's Voices in Israel, a program developed in a partnership between the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations and the Jerusalem Post. The purpose of America's Voices in Israel is to harness and take advantage of the immense reach and power of talk radio by creating opportunities for American talk radio hosts to not only learn from their experiences in Israel but also educate their vast audiences. United Jewish Communities, the UJF's national umbrella organization, is working with local federations to actively seek radio talk show hosts nationwide to participate in the program as part of a national comprehensive Israel advocacy project. Within the past three weeks the UJF, with assistance from UJC, worked closely with KDKA to arrange the visit. KDKA will be the first major radio station to participate in the program. Pintek will be broadcasting from state-of-the-art studios at the Jerusalem Post. The UJF has been developing programming and interview opportunities along with logistical guidance and staff support. This will be Mike Pintek's first visit to Israel. He will also be taking phone calls direct to Jerusalem through the local KDKA studios. UJF Chair Jim Rudolph, who is currently in Israel on a personal visit, will tour Jerusalem with Pintek. On Sunday, prior to his broadcast, Pintek is scheduled to visit Pittsburgh's Partnership 2000 communities of Karmiel and Misgav. Partnership 2000, now in its sixth year, provides people-to-people links between Pittsburgh and Israel in areas of education, medicine, economics and social service support. During his visit, Pintek will also: meet with terror victims and their families and the medical professionals who have treated them; visit the Knesset and Yad Vashem; meet with Pittsburghers who now live in Israel; and interview Israeli officials at the highest levels of government. We encourage you to listen to the Mike Pintek Show next week. For more information, please see an article in this week's Jewish Chronicle about the visit. Go to "top stories" at www.pittchron.com.
