Hi all,

Has anyone ever seen this issue with applications running in zones?

  • runaway processes within the sparse zone which cannot be killed even as the root user
The above scenario has required a reboot of the root zone itself in order to clear the issue.  In theory,  Solaris 10 zones should ideally function as if they were individual servers and we should be able to reboot them independent of the other zones on the global server.  Sometimes, however, that has not always been possible, especially where you have these runaway processes.  When you have an unkillable process, it seems like the zone would always hang on the shutdown or startup sequence and it always requires an urgent reboot of the entire global server. has anyone else ran across this issue?  If so, how did you correct this, if you did?

thanks
