[zones-discuss] Opensolaris in Containers.

2009-03-13 Thread Carlos Mosquera

Team.

I explain a little better my question. We have a customer thats wants
install in its M5000 server three containers: Solaris 8, Solaris 9 and
Open Solaris. I know that you Solaris 8 and 9 it´s supported but I don't
hear nothing about Open Solaris, I'm trying to find information about
that but I couldn't found.

If you have any information that can help me, would be appreciated for me.

Best Regards,
Carlos Mosquera

Thank you for explaining your question - that helped. Since there is
no OpenSolaris brand the only way to do this would be to split
your M5000 up into two domains: Solaris 10 on one (for the
Solaris 8 and 9 branded zones) and OpenSolaris on the other.
Looking at the SPARC EA autoinstall notes, they only
mention Sun4v and Sun4u, so it doesn't look like OpenSolaris
is even an option for the M5000 at the moment. You should
be able to install a fairly recent SXCE release and get
close.

Thanks to Dan Price for catching me in an error. The
M5000 is a Sun4u so the SPARC edition of OpenSolaris
should run on the other dynamic domain just fine.

Sun4us is the legacy Fujitsu server line - my boo boo.

So Carlos, split your M5000 into domains, run Solaris 10 in
one domain and OpenSolaris in the other. There is an
EA of the autoinstall image available. See
