[Zope-dev] ZEO question.

Firstup, a quickie, where's the ZEO list gone?

http://lists.python.org/mailman/listinfo/Zope-ZEO
...gives me:
No such list zope-zeo

And now onto the reason I was looking for that list:

-WinNT 4.0
-Zope 2.3.1b1
-ZEO 0.4.1

E:\Zope\2.3.1b1python lib/python/ZEO/start.py -p 8000
Traceback (innermost last):
  File "lib/python/ZEO/start.py", line 315, in ?
if __name__=='__main__': main(sys.argv)
  File "lib/python/ZEO/start.py", line 297, in main
signal.signal(signal.SIGHUP, handler)
AttributeError: SIGHUP

What does that mean and how can I fix it?

Finally, how can I get the storage server to use the Data.fs from my
INSTANCE_HOME rather than the SOFTWARE_HOME, which I presume the above does?

cheers,

It means that ZEO isn't compatible with NT. simply comment out
line 297 of start.py and it should be fine.

 Finally, how can I get the storage server to use the Data.fs from my
 INSTANCE_HOME rather than the SOFTWARE_HOME, which I presume the above
 does?
I think the default is to use INSTANCE_HOME/var/Data.fs so you
should be happy.

BTW, I have managed to get ZEO running as an NT service
complete with Core Session in a mounted BerkeleyDB 3.2 storage.

Yes, you have to change line 310:
open(zeo_pid,'w').write("%s %s" % (os.getppid(), os.getpid()))
to:
open(zeo_pid,'w').write("%s" % (os.getpid()))

I have posted a report on the ZEO Tracker for both these changes.

[Zope-dev] FastCGI question

2001-03-23 Thread sam gendler

I haven't used Zope to any significant degree in over a year. When I
was last using Zope regularly, FastCGI still had some stability issues,
which made it difficult to use in a production environment. However, I
have always felt that FastCGI was the better solution when choosing
between proxy, pcgi and fastcgi, from a theoretical standpoint. Can
someone comment as to the efficacy of using FastCGI to implement an
interface between my HTTP enabled application and current version of
Zope, or should I use one of the other solutions.

[Zope-dev] Transparent Folder bug?

2001-03-23 Thread Andy McKay

Am I imagining it or do I have a transparent folders bug? It would seem that
transparent folders adds an extra namespace to my objects and it searches
through sub folders eg:

Folder X:
Document Foo.

In the root with transparent folders i can happily call dtml-var Foo when
I should not have this in my namespace. Without transparent folders I get a
KeyError (which I should). With I get X/Foo rendered even though X is not
transparent.

My only caveat here is that every test with transparent folders is Zope 2.3,
where as without im using 2.1.6.

Cheers.

RE: [Zope-dev] Transparent Folder bug?

2001-03-23 Thread Randall F. Kern

I had that problem a while back but forgot to report it to Mr.
Transparent Folders (sorry...)

Anyway, this patch to TransparentFoldersPatch.py should fix you right
up:

def _getattr(self, name):
# This is the new ObjectManager.__getattr__(). If an object by
the
# given ID is not found through the normal mechanisms, we
# fall through to here and try to find the object in a
# transparent folder.
tpids = self._transparent_object_ids
if tpids and not self._v_no_transparent and name[:3] != '_p_'
and name != '_is_transparent':
# The attribute may be accessible through
# transparent folders.
try:

The important bit is adding the term "and name != '_is_transparent': to
the if statement.

[Zope-dev] ParsedXML 1.0 released

2001-03-23 Thread Karl Anderson

We've just released ParsedXML 1.0, the first stable release. It can be
downloaded from zope.org at

http://www.zope.org/Members/karl/ParsedXML/ParsedXML.

Parsed XML allows you to use XML objects in the Zope environment. You
can create XML documents in Zope and leverage Zope to format, query,
and manipulate XML.

Parsed XML consists of a DOM storage, a builder that uses PyExpat to
parse XML into the DOM, and a management proxy product that provides
Zope management features for a DOM tree.
