I do not know. I saw a feature description in the mailing list.
Fred and Tres (the authors) should be able to tell you whether
there is a formal documentation and where you can find it.

There are a number of things that are slated for deprecation in the next
release.
For various reasons, I'm working on a lot of these on my adapter branch.
For that reason, I'd appreciate it if others would *not* start work on removing
these.
