Your thoughts continue to pour in about employer loyalty in these troubled times for DBAs. Your fellow database geeks have been venting about what is owed an employer -- if anything -- after completing expensive training. The "every DBA for him/herself" outlook is definitely getting the most votes. (Add your thoughts here.)

This comment from member "Christie" is typical:

"Companies who don't show loyalty to their employees, or who hire people under prevailing wages because right now jobs are scarce and they can low-ball you, or who expect people to work 70 or 80 hours a week and have meetings at all hours with no compensation to support their ill-conceived and unjustifiable offshoring decisions should not expect loyalty back from you."

Over on ITKnowledge Exchange, the discussion is a bit more even handed. Member "BlueKnight" writes:

"Job loyalty depends on both the employee and the employer as I see it. If the employer treats employees fairly and is willing to spend the money to train employees, then some loyalty from the employees should be expected. The ethical thing to do is to stay a year after the training so your employer realizes (hopefully) some return on the investment."

Cheers, Tim
