[2] "Lotus to offer Web services toolkit to developers"
Lotus will soon spell out how the Domino server and related
collaboration applications will fit into IBM's Web services scheme.
The centerpiece of Lotus' announcements will be a Web services
enablement kit that allows developers to take components of Lotus
collaboration applications and embed them as Web services in other
Lotus applications or in non-Lotus Web applications. For example, a
developer could take a feature in Lotus Sametime that lets users know
if others are online and embed it in an online exchange application
to let traders know who is involved in a given auction.

THE MISSING LINK
A look at an off-the-wall story off the Web
-------------------------------------------------
"BlackBerrys and baseball"
"Here comes the stretch -- and the pi... -- oh wait, he stopped to
check his e-mail."
Get ready. That could be in the baseball broadcast of the future,
where the batter steps out of the batter's box so the pitcher can
check his inbox. The Toronto Blue Jays organization has given each of
its players, coaches and trainers a BlackBerry wireless e-mail gizmo
to keep in touch with everyone at home during the 81 road games this
year. A team spokesman said the BlackBerrys should improve morale in
the nest -- bluejays in the wild love blackberries -- but players
said they're just waiting for the day the dugout ditches hand signals
and sends e-mails to the mound and the base coaches.
