mixed as to whether IBM is pushing its Java-based tool too hard, too
fast.

[3] "IBM expands Linux marketing push"

[4] "Open source IM - its not an oxymoron"
Open source instant messaging offers service providers the
opportunity to privately brand IM service, which reduces the security
risk posed by the technology. Large players overseas, such as France
Telecom, have aligned with Jabber.com, which has developed open
source IM products based on code available on Jabber.org. A few
application service providers are offering private label IM as
services to businesses as well.

THE MISSING LINK
A look at an off-the-wall story off the Web
-------------------------------------------------
"Shower power"
An engineer at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst was so
vexed by why a shower curtain billows in when the water is on that he
spent $28,000 on a high-end software package to solve the mystery.
After 50 hours of computer time and 1.5 trillion calculations, he's
determined that the shower pushes the air into a large vortex with a
low-pressure center that literally sucks the curtain in -- something
akin to a hurricane on its side. Great. Now that that mystery is
solved, maybe he could figure out why socks go in the dryer but don't
come out.
