LEAD STORY:
"Handheld execs upbeat in a downpour"
Handheld makers are trying to find new ways to juice revenue at a
time when sales are mired in a big slump. Research In Motion (RIM) is
banking on the agreement it announced earlier this year with Lotus
and growing European sales to double its market. At Lotusphere in
January RIM committed to developing an enterprise version of its
device based on Notes.

[1] "Verity bolsters enterprise search software"
Verity's latest search software seems to be going after the same
knowledge management crowd that Lotus is targeting. Verity's
K2Enterprise offers corporate search, classification and
personalization features in a single package and can even be linked
to Notes.

[2] "Security is top concern for IBM users"
Security has jumped to the top of the list of IBM user concerns,
according to a survey by IBM user group Share. In the same survey
last year security was the fifth biggest worry, taking a backseat to
establishing an Internet presence. IBM's efforts to link its systems
more closely with those of its business partners may be responsible
for security's leap.

[3] "Code Red II infecting internal corporate networks"
Code Red II, the worm striking the Microsoft Internet Information
Server, is apparently wreaking its havoc on internal corporate
networks now. Security watchdog group TruSecure has received reports
of network outages related to the worm from Fortune 1000 companies.
Other reports suggest that corporate networks of IBM and Cisco were
victimized.

THE MISSING LINK
A look at an off-the-wall story off the Web
-------------------------------------------------
"Summer camp set up for sacked dot-com workers"
A lot of people view working for a dot-com as an extended
adolescence. Free soda. Pinball machines. So what do dot-comers do
when they are laid off? Go to summer camp! Recessioncamp.com is just
such a thing, except instead of bug juice and tents, campers hike and
golf. The prices charged for activities are based only on the cost of
events, so even jobless Internet workers on scant severance pay and
unemployment can afford them.
