the Net, is developing a protocol to allow different instant
messaging services to work together. It is called SIP for Instant
Messaging and Presence Leveraging Extensions, or SIMPLE. Systems

IBM will use the Identrus standard to improve security in its
business-to-business products. Identrus is owned by financial
institutions and was created to provide secure transactions. IBM will

system.

"Keyboards spread disease"
When was the last time you washed your hands? Apparently humans are
not the only organisms getting hip to the computer age. Bacteria are
too. Britain's "The Mirror" conducted an experiment in a London
office and found that computer keyboards are popular bacterial
hangouts. The little things love the warmth. (No word on which keys
they prefer -- maybe the letter "b" for "bacteria"?). The experiment
did not turn up the really sickening stuff like salmonella and E.
coli, but there's always next time!
