![]() Would you violate your company's e-mail policy for the promise of a little love or a little eye candy? Plenty of people did in the cases of the recent Love Bug and Anna Kournikova viruses. After all, most corporate e-mail policies instruct users not to open unknown attachments. So, are these costly security breaches evidence that many policies simply aren't working? Maybe so. But, maybe safeguarding systems from viruses and hackers isn't the real purpose of an e-mail policy. Perhaps the guidelines are really a levee trying to stop the flood of personal e-mails deluging systems. Or, perhaps their real goal is to save the company's hide in the event that an inappropriate e-mail leads to a lawsuit. We've been wondering what you think -- and if your company even bothers with an e-mail policy. Take our current searchDomino poll or drop me an e-mail -- provided your company's policy allows it. |
