CEO Michael Fleisher warned yesterday during the opening keynote at Gartner's Symposium/Itxpo 2001 that half of all the well-known IT vendors doing business today disappear in the next three years, either through mergers or bankruptcy. He said they failed to adapt to the demand slowdown over the past year and didn't promote the creation of innovative products users need. RECESSION IS GOOD NEWS, AT LEAST FOR IBM | News: The Register IBM's Web services division is hoping that the tough economic climate provides a boost. A spokesperson said every dollar invested in IBM Web services yields a 150% return, in addition to greater integration of services and databases, improved efficiency and increased flexibility. THE WSJ CONFUSES CONTENT MANAGEMENT | News: Content-Wire According to an AMR Research analyst, an article in the Wall Street Journal last week about IBM's content management goals generated fear among vendors and confusion among users.
