Instead, developers can probably expect that Groove will work more easily with Microsoft platforms and architecture. MICROSOFT RETOOLS E-MAIL SOFTWARE | CNET Microsoft released a new service pack for Exchange Server 2000. It gives Outlook users additional calendaring views for the Web-based version and support for pop-up window reminders for things like meetings. Administrators get new migration tools, improved communication with the company's Active Directory technology and better e-mail message tracking. ROBOCODE PACKS A HEFTY EDUCATIONAL PUNCH | Group Computing Developers are going crazy over Robocode, a game that teaches emerging Java coders how to program by creating Java "bots," or real Java objects that fight with each other on screen. Since August, Robocode has been downloaded 80,000 times off of IBM's alphaWorks site - a new record. Remember those wacky Massachusetts Institute of Technology students who pull high-profile pranks? Well, now the joke is on the jokesters at the institute's offbeat Media Laboratory. A student there has launched a parody Web site that describes a lab obsessed with the effects technology has on -- ready? -- eroticism! Apparently more than a few techies are enjoying a good laugh. The specious site is so popular it's slowing down the network. (Free registration to this site is required.)
