THE MISSING LINK | Humans extinct by 2040, says BT boffin

Enjoy this Christmas. There may be only about 39 more left! A
British "futureologist" predicts the human race will check out
of this hotel we call "existence" by 2040 unless we start to
exercise more control over technological advances. Ian Pearson,
who works for British Telecom, thinks technology may advance too
far, get out of control and may result in artificial
intelligence smarter than we are. Robots could then take over
and wipe us out. So, could "The Terminator" end up being science
fact instead of science fiction? Stay tuned, and if you meet a
guy named John Connor, be sure to get on his good side.
