THE MISSING LINK | Shopping center silences abusive scales

Talk about a lean, mean, weighin' machine! A smart scale in Australia
not only measured height and weight, it also "weighed in" with some
heavily harsh words. One woman got on the scale and came off with a
computerized printout that said, "Get off fat pig!" Another man, who
weighed only 176 pounds, was told, "You are a little overweight. Fat
%#$@." Following complaints, the scale was removed. Company officials
think someone "made the scale do it" because it normally says things
like "Happy New Year."
