LOTUS' DOMINO PLANS ENRAGE CUSTOMERS | Network World
More Lotus users are up in arms about the company's plans to make
Domino J2EE compliant. Lotus unexpectedly dropped a key technology
from the upcoming Domino 6 release that would have supported Java
Server Pages (JSPs) without having to purchase and deploy a
full-blown J2EE server, such as parent company IBM's WebSphere.

FTC PLANS CRACKDOWN ON DECEPTIVE JUNK E-MAIL | Reuters
For the first time, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission is planning to
go after e-mail spammers who swamp Internet users with misleading
e-mail offers. The FTC will use existing laws banning false or
deceptive trade practices.

IBM FACES NEW NAZI LAWSUIT | IDG
A group representing Gypsy victims of the Holocaust has filed suit
against IBM, claiming that Big Blue and its subsidiaries leased and
maintained the punchcard data-processing machines the Nazis used to

WIRELESS GOAL: DON'T GET WHACKED | InformationWeek
Whacking, or wireless hacking, is keeping some information technology
managers awake at night. But securing a wireless network is not very
different from protecting a wired one. Managers of wireless networks
must be concerned with authentication to prove users are who they
claim to be, integrity to ensure the data can't be altered, and
security to make certain data can't be intercepted. Here is what some
companies are doing to feel more secure.

THE MISSING LINK | IT attracts the most crooks

IT execs -- the robber barons of the new century? One of Britain's
top venture capitalists says more white-collar criminals are running
U.K. tech companies than any other businesses. He says the tech
business is still a growth business and is like fly paper for buzzing
opportunists. Maybe that explains why a recent government survey in
the U.K. found bosses of computer services companies are the second
most likely to be banned from running companies.
