LEAD STORY
A NARROW GLANCE OF LOTUS' PHRED STRATEGY | Computerworld
Some say Lotus is hanging on to its old identity by a thread, but
users at Lotusphere 2002 got a glimpse of what's now publicly being
referred to as Phred: Lotus' plan to extend its collaboration
technology to third-party vendor applications. Lotus has confirmed
that it is developing links to connect its software to that of
vendors like SAP, PeopleSoft and Siebel.

ADMIN ALERT: DON'T USE CHKPRDOPT ON DOMINO-LEI | The Four Hundred
There's a little-publicized conflict between IBM's Domino Enterprise
Server for AS/400, the Lotus Enterprise Integrator for AS/400, and
OS/400's Check Product Option command. This conflict can affect the
ability to save and restore the Domino server to an iSeries or AS/400
system.

SPAM: AN UNHOLY MESS | CRN
There seems to be no stopping e-mail spam these days, as even
corporate e-mail servers and inboxes are flooded with everything from
porno to miracle diets. However, spam may drive more companies to
consider online collaborative workspaces such as those offered by
Groove Networks and eRoom Technology.

JUDGE ORDERS MICROSOFT TO REVEAL CODE | CNET
Late Friday a federal judge told Microsoft it must disclose portions
of the Windows source code, including some Windows XP code, to nine
states and the District of Columbia still involved in the nortorious
antitrust suit against the company. Analysts warned that Microsoft
must take serious precautions to make sure Windows XP source code
does not fall into the hands of competitors.

TAKE OUR NEW POLL | searchDomino

There's talk that an alternative, open-source Java application
development environment for Domino 6 may be in the works. Would you
support this movement?

    >>VOTE HERE: http://www.searchdomino.com/poll

PREVIOUS POLL RESULTS:
Lotus has announced that Domino 6 will not support Java Server Pages
-- a full-blown J2EE server like WebSphere is needed instead. Is this
a good move?

79%: No way! I want to run Domino, not WebSphere. (1674 votes)
11%: Maybe. Performance might be better, but I'm concerned about the
     cost. (239 votes)
5%: Absolutely. It'll increase WebSphere adoption in Domino shops.
     (112 votes)
4%: It doesn't matter to me as long as Domino 6 is released on
     time. (85 votes)

THE MISSING LINK | Networked dream home is still a fridge too far

You know that smart "dream home" where you can use your cell phone to
tell your PC to tell your coffee maker to start brewing? You've
probably heard for the past year or more that this dream was going to
be reality -- and soon. Well, keep dreaming, and plan on waking up in
2007. An analyst with Gartner Dataquest says the integrated home is
at least five years down the pike. Evidently, making all these
devices speak the same language is kind of a nightmare.
