One expert said the changes by Microsoft and Lotus mark a "big dislocation" that should level the data storage playing field between IBM and Microsoft. SEC ASKED IBM TO AMEND 1999 REPORT | InfoWorld The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) asked IBM to consider amending its 1999 annual report, according to a report last week in the Wall Street Journal. The SEC questioned several IBM accounting practices, including the way the company reported a $4.06 billion gain from asset sales and its disclosure of gains from its pension fund. But mom may have been right about that other warning -- standing too close to the TV. A recent study of children found a link between time spent in front of a computer screen and vision problems. Researchers say pixel preoccupation can be really hazardous to kids these days because they start using computers when they're so young, plus they don't really know the warning signs of vision problems, like headache, eye fatigue, and blurry vision.
