GROOVE UPDATES PEER-TO-PEER SOFTWARE | CNET
Peer-to-peer software firm Groove Networks is planning to soon
release a new version of its collaboration and instant messaging
software that will move it closer to Microsoft. Version 2.0 of the
Groove software includes tools for integration with Outlook e-mail,
enhanced support for Microsoft Office and new server tools for
businesses using the service.

IBM'S TIVOLI VOWS TO MAKE MANAGEMENT SIMPLER | ZDNet
Big promises from Tivoli can't disguise the fact that the
improvements are an effort to keep up with a changing industry. IBM
yesterday announced a makeover in its Tivoli systems management
division. Several new products, some rebranding and a simpler
approach to bundling are all aimed at making the much-criticized
management software better value for users.

TECH GIANTS PARTNER ON SECURITY STANDARD | CNET
Microsoft, IBM and VeriSign have teamed to create a new security
standard for Web services called WS-Security, which will ensure that
data being passed between companies remains confidential. Analysts
say the standard will help drive Web services adoption because
security shortcomings have been the emerging technology's biggest
obstacle to date.

EXPERT ADVICE | Todd Fuder, LotusScript & App Development Expert

Dear Ask the Expert,
My question is in regard to the location of my scripts. When would I
use a script library vs. the global form script vs. an agent, etc?
Keeping in mind that performance is always a priority.

According to Todd, there is more than one school of thought on this,
primarily because, when it comes to LotusScript/VB/VBScript/VBA/etc,
it's mostly a matter of style vs. performance, more than
requirements.

Title: J2EE Frontend Technologies
Author: Lennart Jorelid

Description: Servlets and JSP (JavaServer Pages) are the main way
that Java is used in the Web today. These are Java programs that run
on a Web server that allow HTML content to be dynamically generated
(often by querying a database) and then sent via the Web to a
"client" machine that made the request in the first place. Jorelid's
book concentrates on teaching the programmer how to fit the various
pieces together spending as little time as possible on plumbing.

THE MISSING LINK | Woods gets into swing of new game

Tiger Woods wants to crush your golf ego -- right in your own living
room. Apparently when gamemaker Electronic Arts trumpets its
long-standing mantra, "If it's in the game, it's in the game," it's
no joke. When Woods signed on to lend his name and likeness to EA's
golf simulator he wasn't about to let the programmers render him as
some slice-minded duffer. An avid gamer, Woods went to great lengths
to ensure that his swing looks real and that the game suits his
style. But take heart, you'll probably be able to beat cyber Tiger
long before you'd ever slip into that green Masters' Tournament
champion jacket for real.
